We all have those moments where we think, “What if I could combine my favorite aspects of Commander and Modern?” or “Wouldn’t it be cool to play a format with Vintage power level cards but with Standard card pool?” These hybrid format ideas are exciting, but bringing them to life can be a real challenge. That’s where mtg proxy cards, and MTGcardBuilder, become a playground for blending playstyles.
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of mashing up different Magic formats. I’d spend hours brainstorming custom formats, but we’d always hit a wall when it came to actually playing them. The cards we needed were either impossible to find or ridiculously expensive.
Then, I discovered MTGcardBuilder. The platform was incredibly easy to use, and I could design proxies of any card imaginable. I decided to try it out, creating proxies for a custom format we called “Modern Commander,” which combined the card pool of Modern with the rules of Commander.
The first time we played that format, it was a wild ride. It was like experiencing Magic in a completely new way. We were laughing, strategizing, and having a ton of fun. Using MTGcardBuilder to create these mtg proxy cards made our crazy format a reality, and it was a blast to see how different archetypes played out.
Now, we use proxies to play all sorts of hybrid formats. It’s allowed us to explore the creative possibilities of Magic and have some truly unforgettable game nights. MTGcardBuilder has become an essential tool in our playgroup’s creativity.
